Penny Lane

"I always tell the girls, never take it seriously, if you never take it seriously you never get hurt, ya never get hurt, you always have fun and if you ever get lonely, just go to the record store and visit your friends."

Skate it or Break it

Seriously - what is more fun than roller skating? I hadn't been in years when rumblings of an adult skate party started making their way into our minds. We figured that there were no better recipients of such an event than my roommate, Megan and our good friend, Charlotte. Turning 25 is no joke in our world and it certainly called for some sparkly attire and big hair. The decision to make this event themed was an easy one, seeing how it was better to laugh with yourself than AT yourself at such an event. It was like a modern-day date party, without the dues. I have to say, dressing up was one of my favorite parts then and it still holds true today. Walking into the rink was like being taken back in time, to a place where the carpet still smells the same and linoleum is sticky with regular coke...ahh, childhood. The only difference being the size of our skates, the awareness of potential injury and the musical preferences. (I don’t think I ever requested Rihanna as a tot...)

Anyway, here are a few pics to give you a glimpse into our weekend rager. We love Megan and Charlotte and hope they felt so special!

Emerson Made

I cannot tell you how much I LOVE this little line. Starting out as a one woman show in NYC, Emerson (of Emerson Made), would wear her little blooms around and sell them to followers right off of her jacket. From humble beginnings, to booming Etsy shops, and now on to actual merchandise. It wasn't long before she and her husband, Ryan, left the City and went on to quieter pastures on their very own farm. She has now gone from simple blooms to apparel (clutches, belts, home items, etc!), all of which are handmade and amazing. There is quite a following for her specialty goods and one look at her site will tell you why. Here are just a few of my faves...

New babies and lake days

Here we go for the belated 4th of July post. Happy birthday, America! My holiday weekend (although it seems so long ago now...) was full of baby surprises, family lake time and fireworks - only the best. It all started with a cute new addition to the world and then the rest just fell into place.

I have been going to the same lake house of our dear family friends for the better part of my entire life. There have been a few "lost" years along the way, but when and if we can get together - we will. My parents are lucky to know their closest friends since childhood and blaze the trail of life (marriage, kids, college, etc.) together. Some of my earliest memories involve sparklers at the lake, Gun Barrel City flea markets, mass quantities of grilled burgers, and jumping off the dock. I'm not sure I'll ever grow tired of the slanted yard, haphazard sleeping quarters or amateur fireworks show...it's what makes it so charming.

Here are a few snippets from the weekend, enjoy!

Buddies! (I wanted to steal this fella...)

(These are not sequential...lil' London came first.)
